CTRL-ALT-DEL [differences in Windows 3 and Windows 95]
Global Systems Design
In Windows 3.1 using the "three finger salute" as it is affectionately known to many keyboard thumpers doesn't give you many options. If there is a program which is not responding to the system it may or may not close it for you depending upon how severe the crash was. If there is no program not responding to the system you will simply be given the choice to return to Windows by pushing any key, or doing a second CTRL-ALT-DEL to restart your computer.

Windows 95 has improved on this some. When you give it the three finger salute you are presented with a list of all programs running and may close any of them by selecting the program you wish to close, and clicking on End Task. If there is a program not responding to the system it will be listed at the top of this box, and [not responding] will appear in the listing next to it.

Once you click on the End Task button a second confirmation dialog will appear if you are closing a program which is not responding to the system. If you are just closing a program that is acting normally no confirmation dialog will appear, and the program will end immediately.
