This page is all about Internet Radio Stations which you can listen to while you are online. At first I couldn't play a lot of the stations as they were in Real Audio format, but I have learned that you can indeed install Real Player on Linux so problem solved! I also got streamtuner via Synaptic Package Manager in Ubuntu, and have configured it to use Real Player for streaming audio and now I'm all set. First in the search results yields an Internet Radio Station Search Engine which claims to have over 10,000 stations, and 2500 streaming audio sites on tap. Pandora This site has a nice collection of stations in varied formats. They also let you enter an artists name in a search box, and will start playing that artist for you, then follow them with similar artists. They make you register to listen to the categorized feeds. Jango This site has a few different format feeds which you can listen to free. They also will let you type an artist's name into a search box, and begin playing that artist for you. You don't even have to register to listen, but if you do register, you will be able to save your station prefernces. Live 365 This site has many stations in each category, and many categories to choose from. Something for everyone here. No registration required to listen here! 8-) SHOUTcast Internet Radio This site has many stations in many categories, and you can narrow down your music genre with a search box. No registration required to listen here. Woops! I couldn't get any of their stations to play from their "Tune IN" buttons, and when I loaded a stations web site and clicked listen, it gave me a message that it would only work in Internet Explorer. I'm in Firefox on Ubuntu, no IE here! Radio Tower This site seems to have plenty of stations, and doesn't ask you to reigster, but their music only plays in Windows Media Player, or Real Player so I couldn't listen to any of their stations. UPDATE: 12-4-2008 I have found out that Real Player is available for Linux and have installed it so now I can access many of these stations. Slacker This site has a fair amount of stations, doesn't make you register to listen, and works right off in Firefox under Ubuntu. Live Radio They have a lot of stations but, once again it's a Windows Media Player and Real Player site so I couldn't listen to any of it. UPDATE: 12-4-2008 I have found out that Real Player is available for Linux and have installed it so now I can access many of these stations. AOL Music This site plays right off in Firefox, doesn't require registration to listen, and has loads of stations to choose from. Accu Radio This site has many good stations to listen to. You don't have to register to listen, and they allow you to customize the station you're listening to by de-selecting artists you don't want to hear. And... it works in Firefox! Yahoo Music Yahoo has many stations, and doesn't make you register to listen, but their interface complains of an error 12, and does not support Firefox under Ubuntu. How Internet Radio works This page tells you how Internet Radio works. Internet Radio This page tells you how to create your own Internet Radio Station. Classics Rewind This is one station of many that I could find that would actually play when clicked on the StreamFinder.com site. Like this page?
